USA: Textile Chiefs Seek China Safeguard Action
Worried US textile chiefs on Thursday demanded the federal government slap emergency import quotas on several categories of apparel from China in a bid to protect 630,000 jobs. Officials from 14 groups including the American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition, (AMTAC), National Textile Association (NTA) and the American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI) want the quotas imposed on knit fabric, nightgowns and robes, gloves and bras.
